Finally Friday!!!

Today definitely feels like a Friday.  This damned cold is still hanging on, much to my chagrin.  But there is a light at the end of the tunnel...for I have the whole weekend off!!

Woot, Woot!!
My job requires me to work on the weekend quite often, so when it just so happens that I am scheduled OFF on the weekend, both Saturday and Sunday, a few things happen.

First, I think "There must be some mistake."

Second, I am very careful to see who's calling before I answer the phone.  That's because I am a kind and understanding soul who knows that in life, shit happens.  And if I hear a desperate voice on the other end of the line...well, I just can't trust myself.

"Gina, someone didn't show up," or "Thank God you answered, I am so sick and I really shouldn't be here sneezing all over the cinnamon buns." or "So-and-so's ass is falling off, and the coffee grinder broke, so we need you to come in and smash the beans with your gi-normous size ten feet."  Well, you get the picture...

So, this weekend, I will be sleeping in.  Mike is making some incredible baked apple/pastry concoction with cinnamon and sugar.  We will have big cups of coffee, and sit in the sunny living room and plan our days.

We will finally use that California Pizza Kitchen gift card given to us by my aunt and uncle for Christmas.  We will go down to State Street to meander and shop and undoubtedly run into people we know.  We always see someone we know down on State Street.  That's one of the things I love about this town.

And we will make our second trip to the Santa Barbara Orchid Festival.
I will take pictures, and post them here next week.  Looking at the orchids on display and getting awesome pics of them is my only goal.  I'm really only going because Mike wants to go -
AND the flowers are gorgeous.
Well, and because this is a milestone for us.  One of the first weekends I spent with Mike was last year.  We went to the orchid festival.  So it's a one-year anniversary of sorts.

Yep, I am feeling very warm and fuzzy about having the weekend off.  That's not how I started out feeling, it just kind of snuck up on me.

Enjoy the weekend with people who make you happy ♥

  1. Wow! It's so hard to find "me" time, huh? I really love lazy Saturday mornings, and orchids. Can't wait to see your pics of the orchid show. Thanks for your post.
